We bought a Zoo is a movie about Benjamin Mee, just recently lost his wife, and his family. They decide that it's time for them to move someplace knew and start fresh. During this time, Benjamin’s son Dillon is struggling to deal with the loss. They take a look at numerous houses and come across one that seems to be perfect. The house isn't what it seems at first glance, it is actually a zoo. It shut down years ago and the remaining workers have been trying to get it back up and running again. Wanting to take a risk, Benjamin Mee purchases the house along with the zoo and helps the workers with reopening the zoo. During this time, Mee meets a woman who works at the zoo named Kelly Foster. From then on, Benjamin Mee and his family start their process of healing.
